My dad is a trekkie, always has been, he has gone to conventions, knows some klingon, taught his children the vulcan salute, would try introducing star trek to us through all of ours childhoods and has been constantly rewatching all the star trek series

All that to say that I recently decided that I would get into star trek for real, I've always enjoyed what i saw with my dad, so yeah it makes sense, but i am a fandom person, i am a very online person, things my dad is not and so it can be kinda funny to talk star trek with him because i am seeing a great amount of gay jokes and interpretations about amok time and then i have my dad asking if i have watched it yet because it's one of his favorites episodes and one of the greatest and this is just the kind of thing i dont talk about with my parents so i feel giggly

I enjoy shipping, but I cannot see the appeal in watching shows only for the purpose of shipping; I think it closes you off to so much. I think coming into a work with the expectation that it will only succeed if a particular configuration of people end up happily in a relationship with each other when the curtain closes means you will reject so many unexpected choices altogether. It destroys your ability to appreciate the entire concept of tragedy. Just, imagine refusing to let yourself enjoy "I'm not a gardener" because you are too furious that a different kiss than the one you wanted happened to feel other emotions.

in supernatural season 6 episode 18 frontierland. dean makes reference to star trek iv the voyage home and is dismayed by the fact that sam doesn’t like star trek and bobby has “only watched deep space nine” (which…. wow whole other can of worms) but that means dean winchester is enough of a star trek fan to not only have seen the original series but also the companion movies???? and his favourite is the one with the whales!!! he’s a hardcore trekkie!!! my blorbo canonically obsessed with my other blorbos what a revelation for me. I skip and i kick my feet and i say yippee!! salvation!

Star Trek has had an amazing range of guest stars from astronauts to athletes to musicians to the king of Jordan. Eliminating other actors - who would you want to see next?

These are just a few I came up with in a morning of brainstorming, but this is a super open ended question and I would love to hear your ideas!

Also I just think it would be funny of George Lucas showed up, but realistically I don’t like him that much and think there are others who would make more interesting guests.
